I Spy with my Little Eye…

This past weekend we headed off to take a quick nibble of the Big Apple.  My youngest daughter finished college in December and graduates on May 10th.  All she wanted for a graduation present was a trip to the Museum of Modern Art with my husband and I.  What a jewel she is, because her desired destination is one of my favorite places to visit, as well.

Whenever we visit Manhattan, I always hope to spy a celebrity attempting to inconspicuously traverse the busy streets. My greatest hope is to see the lovely Hugh Jackman, who has been my number one celebrity crush for quite some time.

He's so very pretty.
He’s so very pretty.

I, also, wouldn’t be too disappointed if the very tall, blond, and handsome Alexander Skarsgard crossed my path.

Let's face it, Alex, you're the only reason that I still bother with the ill-written mess that is True Blood.

Fortunately, my adorable husband doesn’t mind my celebrity foolishness.  He even took me to see Hugh Jackman’s Back on Broadway show a few years ago.

This trip, my quick little eye didn’t spy Hugh or Alex, but I did surprise my daughter and husband by seeing Justin Jedlica sitting outside with his luggage, waiting for a friend.  Justin has been a guest on many talk shows and TV specials about plastic surgery.  He is touted as the “Human Ken Doll” because of his extensive plastic surgery.  I first saw him on TLC’s My Strange Addiction series.  While he is a surgical anomaly, he is also very intelligent.  He’s designed surgical implants and works as a surgical consultant.

According to my friends and family, I have fairly large cojones, and had no problem with politely approaching him.  He was so very sweet, and willingly chatted and took pictures with us.

I was all, "Hi, Justin! Can I take a pic of you?" And, thankfully, he was agreeable!

My less bold daughter, sweetly introduced herself and I snapped this great shot:

I found out recently that my daughter reads my blog each day on her lunch break.  She kindly gave permission for me to post this picture of her with Justin.

Though I didn’t run into my celebrity crushes, meeting Justin was a lovely experience and I certainly wish him well in his endeavors.

Do you have a celebrity crush?  Have you ever met a celebrity? Tell me about it! 🙂  Have a great day everyone!

  1. Your daughter is beautiful! Great photo! Hmmmm. Celebrity crushes….I’ve had many. Nastassia Kinski, maybe? I tend to have crushes on actresses in their roles within a film. Kind of like falling in love with their character more than the actress.

    1. Aww, thank you so much! I think she’s beautiful inside and out! I had to look up Kinski to remember what she looks like. She’s beautiful–did you know she’s 53? That makes me feel old! 🙂

  2. Great post. I must confess I have had several celebrity crushes. One was Jackie Chan, back in the 80s and 90s. And, yes, I did meet him! I gave him a book about Charlie Chaplin, inscribed with my grateful thoughts to him, written in Chinese (translated by a friend). He was very kind and gracious. It was a wonderful experience.

    1. Very cool that you were able to meet your crush! He always seems so likable in interviews–I can easily imagine him to be very kind and gracious. I’m so glad you were able to show him your gratitude. 🙂

  3. I’m pretty bad at recognizing faces and I don’t keep up much with celebrities. While visiting Staten Island, I met Brian Quinn from Impractical Jokers on the Staten Island ferry (got a pic) and at the Staten Island mall I got a pic with Drita Davanzo from Mob Wives and I spied Tyce Diorio choreographer from So You Think You Can Dance Christmas shopping. I didn’t notice anyone in Manhattan.

    1. I’m not sure who Brian Quinn is, but I have watched Mob Wives a time or two. I might feel a little nervous about going up to Drita–all of the Mob Wives seem a little scary! You were brave! 🙂

      1. Have seen Speed 13 times once in a local language as well 🙂 . I am that crazy for him. Walk in the clouds I couldn’t stand to watch he looked too adorable in it.

    1. I guess I’m pretty lucky to live on the East Coast, but there are so many wonderful things that you have in your area that I’d love to see. I was about 10 feet away from him when saw him on Broadway. He’s such a talented singer, dancer and actor. The thing I like best about him is that he seems like such a nice family man and a kind person.

  4. Okay, I may not have a celebrity crush, but I do appreciate your ability to take a “nibble” of art as a means of nourishing yourself on this diet adventure. Congratulations.

Sorry to have been away all week. We’ve had friends visiting from the US and have had to do host and introduce thing. I’ve hardly had time to turn on my computer, I fear. Hope you are well, my friend.

    Hugs from Ecuador,

    1. Thank you, dear Kathy! LOL! All I can nibble on are my adventures! I’m doing well and hope you are, too. I did remember that you had company this week. You’ve had a busy month! Now you’ll have to take a week to relax from all of your adventures! 🙂 Hugs right back atcha!

    1. 🙂 I only knew who he was because I’d happened to recently see him on a talk show. I have a pretty good memory for faces. He’s not a big celebrity, but he is semi-well known and has an interesting back story. He was very personable and gracious. I like a bit more rugged look, myself!

  5. Justin was as gracious as can be, having been ambushed by us and taking the time to chat with us and pose for pictures. I wish I had thought to say that what we love about him is that he is beautiful on the inside…his personality is thoroughly endearing. We don’t even care what he looks like on the outside, so he can indeed consider that mission complete. I too wish him complete success on his unique journey, as I wish everyone in the peaceable kingdom.

Hon, to answer your question…I don’t seem to have a celebrity crush. Perhaps if I sifted through albums of them, I could come up with one or two that I may be forgetting completely….but not a one comes to mind. You must be my ONLY crush!

But I’m willing to share your heart with Mr. Jackman and Mr. Skaar$gourndven (I’m pretty sure that’s how it’s spelled…), if that keeps a smile on your pretty face. Can I have you weekends though?
